Power lunch

Today, I had lunch at a fancy restaurant, that was located inside a ritzy hotel. It was what you might call a power lunch. Business was discussed. I was really there to support Meagan.

I dressed for the occasion as you would expect. I was going for the semi formal, but hip, look. No tie necessary, this is LA after all. I wanted to make a good impression with the people that we lunched with. Those people know their stuff.

I wore my navy blazer jacket. The jacket is appropriate for a power lunch or a night on the town. Every guy should have a chic blazer jacket as part of their clothing repertoire.

The food wasn't too bad. It was fusion cuisine.

But that was only half the story.

My bud Ryan called me up this morning to go work out with him. I think the dude has too much free time on his hands. I don't mind though. It's good to have company. I essentially work alone, except for the company of my clients. But they're no fun, usually.

It is good to have some fun during my break between meeting clients. He met me at the hotel where I had lunch. It gave him an excuse to come into downtown. I spotted him immediately in the lobby. He was the only dude wearing a tank top. He definitely looked out of place slouching on the couch in his tank top.

Meagan was the one who suggested that I cuff the bottom of my pants. It looked kind of nerdy. Some consider that fashionable. I have mixed feelings about it, but I went with it anyway.

Workout buddy

It's a lot more fun to work out with a buddy than to go solo.

Ryan

I can't believe how much time that I have spent with Ryan, ever since the chance reunion we had on memorial day.

He has been constantly badgering me to hang out with him. It has been hard to resist. The dude is just a barrel of fun. Even though I work odd hours, he has made time to chill with me during my free time. We have spent plenty of time at the gym, goofing off as much as working out.

Ryan, again

I have to admit that having an old friend back in my life has been a good thing. I am getting a better workout.

On the stump

Photoshoots with Meagan are technically business related. But they don't feel like work because there are no strict ground rules we follow. Meagan is not bossing me around. Meagan and I are partners in this, albeit I am just a small minority partner. Besides Meagan is cool and easygoing. We go with the flow. We usually have a good time.

A photoshoot at the beach is a bonus. It is an excuse to hang out at the beach in the middle of the week and not feel guilty about it.

It was actually my idea to do this shoot at the beach. We planned this a couple of days in advance. A client that I had just finished a massage session with lived near this beach, so why not take advantage of the situation.

Old friend

It was like old times.

I bumped into an old friend at a party that I went to. It is a small world.

After having lunch with Heather's family, we took off for a nearby memorial day party organized by a local OC Vietnamese American youth group. I am glad we went to the party. It had been a while since I had seen Ryan. It was good to see him.

He wanted to take me home.

I hung out with Ryan, and his pal, on Sunday. And yesterday, we went to the gym and worked out together. It was like old times, minus the threesome.

With my odd schedule, I don't have as much time as I would like to really chill with my buds. I guess you don't appreciated your friendships until you miss them.

Memorial day

I hope you had a good Memorial day holiday. This is my belated post about my Memorial day.

I had mixed reviews about my own day. First, I had to deal a client who requested a massage on that day. She, at least, gave me three days advance notice. Holiday or not, I am going to accommodate a client's request. I can't be turning down clients' requests. If business was better, maybe.

Anyway, I got that done with in the morning.

Then came the fun and the not so fun part.

The fun part. I got to spend the rest of the day with Heather.

The not so fun part was spending the day with Heather's family. She has a big one.

We were down in Orange County around the Newport Beach area and along the OC coast line. Then we headed back to their home for a BBQ.

Heather has an overprotective older brother. I had to be on my best behavior.

Big and small and the pineapple express

I want to share with you some photos that were taken over the past few weeks.

One of the perks of the job.
Great view of the LA skyline from the home of one of my clients

Monster sized plants.
feeling overwhelmed

I felt small.

We did this photoshoot in what seemed like an alien terrain.

They say that clothes is an expression of one's personality.

thinking about pineapples

I guess that I was expressing my inner pineapple, whatever that is suppose to mean.

Kitchen project etc.

Melissa sent me a montage of pictures of her remodeled kitchen, the kitchen that I had a hand in creating. I know it was just a small contribution on my part. But I'll take whatever credit that I can.

Melissa was very grateful. And she was definitely a gracious host. I loved hanging out with her and Alan.

Melissa's message was also a not so subtle hint that she has other rooms in her house that she wants to renovate and that she wouldn't mind me lending my skillful hands again to the cause.

We had a good time, no question about it. Thanks for reminding me Melissa. I would love to help them out, but I need to get back to her on that one.
