NYC trip, post script

Just one more post about my trip to New York.

I want to give props to Meagan for the good job that she did.

These are two outfits that she designed. They were designed to be edgy and urban. We took them to NYC to showcase. We did a couple of improvised photoshoots around the neighborhood where we stayed. An urban setting for urban wear.

Compare those to one of the outfits that I modelled for Sam (Meagan's designer pal).

Don't get me wrong. From what I could tell, Sam is a very talented designer. But I had to wonder what he was thinking when he designed this outfit.

we ate one meal at this fancy bistro.

I was a bit underdressed.

Spring break visit, computer repaired

I got my laptop back from the repair shop yesterday. I felt like I got ripped off though.

I hate it when the computer acts wacky. Don't you? So I took it to a repair shop. I didn't want to use the same chain repair service that I used the last time that I needed it fixed. That place charged me an arm and a leg.

I found this local repair shop. The techie gave me what seemed at the time a reasonable estimate. So I had him fix it. It took 3 days. He said he had a backlog. Meanwhile I checked out the laptops at several big box retailers. For the price that I paid for the repair, I probably would have been better off if I had bought a new laptop instead.

Even though I felt like I got ripped off, I was, nevertheless, happy to have my old laptop back. So happy that I took it to bed with me last night.

Now onto something more interesting.

My cousin Matt, Meagan's brother, dropped by for a visit during his spring break last week.

He has "model" looks, sorta. lol. I am just kidding. He knows it. Matty is handsome and looks like a model. What do you think?

Anyway, Meagan put him to work modeling a couple of her outfits. We did this on the roof of a garment factory.

People and nightlife, New York City

I am hoping that you don't get bored reading my NYC posts because I got another one. It just occurred to me that I have some more stuff about the trip that I want to share with you. Two posts are not enough.

My time in NYC included meeting a couple of friendly people who are in the fashion industry. I learned a thing or two from them and, who knows, maybe they could be good contacts in the industry for me in the future.

This is Craig. I never met him before. He is a designer at the apparel company. We met him during one of our meetings. He was very friendly. He offered to show Meagan and myself around midtown Manhattan.

We accepted his offer. I didn't know why he was so friendly. I wasn't sure what his deal was. But we figured that if we got cozy with one of their designers, it could only help our cause. It was interesting that he had that distinct frosted hair look, and he was dressed for summer.

This is Sam. He and Meagan are pals. They met in college. He is also in the fashion industry. He and Meagan had their little reunion while we were in the city. He showed us around the non touristy part of town.

He made our stay in NYC so much more pleasant.

This outfit was created by Sam. I was more than happy to model it for him. He wound up giving it to me as a gift.

Sam treated us to a meal on the rooftop of the condo building where he lives. It has nice views. I didn't ask how he could afford to live there.

This is Sam's buddy that we bumped into on the rooftop.

New York City part 2

I want to share with you some of the photos that I took while I was in NYC.

We stayed at an apartment that Meagan booked through air bnb. The apartment was very well kept. It was clean, very stylish, and still affordable. Maybe because it was in Brooklyn.

Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan skyline

I spent three fun days in New York City last week. It wasn't a vacation though. The trip was actually business related, that is, Meagan's fashion business. Even though the trip was business related, I had a blast anyway.

Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges
NYC is such an incredible place. This was actually my second time there, but I was still in awe of the place. The city is so alive, the hustle and bustle. I loved it.

The reason for the trip was for Meagan to make her presentations to an apparel company. I was there as her business partner. But really, I acted more like her assistant. I carried the suitcases of clothes to our meetings. I guess you can say that I was there for my muscles, not my brains. In any case, Meagan handled herself quite well.

Of course it was very important that I wore appropriate outfits for the meetings. I wanted to wear outfits that projected a good sense of style as well as confidence.

I wore the more casual outfit (above) for one meeting and the slightly more formal outfit (below) for the other meeting.

For those two photos where I had an overcoat draped over me, they were taken at the steps of the main New York Public Library.

As far as I could tell the meetings went smoothly. I hope it was the start of a prosperous relationship between Meagan's fashion house and the apparel company.
